October 21, 1805. Battle of Trafalgar between English and French/Spanish; Admiral Horatio Nelson, aboard HMS Victory, is victor over larger allied force under command of Admiral Villeneuve. British break through enemy line at two points to effect significant victory and eliminate all chance of a French invasion of England. Nelson shot during battle and died hours later, with victory assured.
